Apple to Host WWDC 2019 in San Jose

Posted March 14, 2019 | Apple | Dev | Windows | WWDC | WWDC 2019

Apple announced today that it will host its 30th annual Worldwide Developers Conference in San Jose from June 3 to 7.

“WWDC is Apple’s biggest event of the year,” Apple senior vice president Phil Schiller said in a prepared statement. “It brings thousands of the most creative and dedicated developers from around the world together with over a thousand Apple engineers to learn about our latest platform innovations and to connect as a community. Our developers are incredibly passionate about creating the next generation of mind-blowing experiences for the world through apps. We can’t wait to get together with them and share what’s next.”

The event will be held at the McEnery Convention Center and will focus on coming versions of iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS, Apple says.

Those interested in attending can apply for tickets starting at 5 p.m. PDR on March 20 at the WWDC website. Tickets will be issued at random and developers will learn their fate by the end of the day on March 21. Those who lose out on this Willy Wonka-like experience can at least watch the WWDC keynote live online. And those in Apple’s paid developer program will be able to access WWDC content later online as well.

Google and Microsoft are both hosting their own developer conferences, called Google I/O and Build respectively, the week of May 6, 2019.
