Apple Watch 5 Rumoured for a September Launch

Posted August 19, 2019 | Apple | Apple Watch | Apple Watch Series 5 | Windows

Usually, when Apple is about to launch a new product, there is a lot of fuss about it. Take the upcoming iPhones 11, for example. Or even the upcoming 16-inch MacBook Pro. We already know some of the headline features of the iPhone 11, as well as the new keyboard design on the 16-inch MacBook Pro.

And unlike usual, we haven’t heard much about a new generation of Apple Watch devices. Apple usually launches new Apple Watches every September, but this time around there’s been barely been any rumors about the Apple Watch Series 5, leading to some questioning whether we will even see the launch of the Series 5 Apple Watch this year.

The answer is yes. Probably.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has apparently stated (via MacRumors) that Apple will be launching a new Series 5 Apple Watch in September. More specifically, Kuo says Apple will work with Japan Display to supply OLED displays for the Series 5 Apple Watch. The company is also diversifying its supply chain, by getting more of its supply of iPhone OLED displays from LG, as well as Chinese manufacturer BOE.

The details about what exactly we can expect from the Series 5 Apple Watch is still a big mystery. Just yesterday, we wrote about potential new titanium and ceramic models for the Apple Watch, though Kuo didn’t mention whether these new makes are specifically for the Series 5 Apple Watch. Either way, if you were planning to get a new Apple Watch, you should probably hold out till September 10.
