Apple’s Rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro Gets Delayed to 2021

Posted April 9, 2019 | Apple | Apple Display | Hardware | MacBook Pro | Windows

Earlier this year, a major report from popular Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed some of Apple’s upcoming product plans. The report included a lot of flashy new products, tho Kuo is now reporting that there have been some minor changes in Apple’s plans.

First of all, the company’s new 16-inch MacBook Pro that was originally expected to arrive later this year has now been pushed back to either 2020 or 2021. According to Macrumors, Kuo is predicting that the new MacBook Pro design, which could come in between 15-inch to 17-inch will now be coming either in 2020 or in the first half of 2021. The company is also expected to introduce a more powerful 13-inch MacBook Pro with options to have 32GB of RAM, though we aren’t quite sure if that’s been delayed to 2020/2021 as well.

Kuo says Apple will also launch a new 10-inch to 12-inch iPad between Q4 2020 and Q1 2021, which will likely be part of the company’s iPad Pro line.

And as for the massive new 31.6-inch 6K display, that’s still expected to launch this year. Kuo previously reported that Cupertino is working on a 31.6-inch “6K3K” display that features a Mini-LED like backlight design. It’s expected to arrive in the second or third quarter of this year, and offer “outstanding picture quality.”

It would make sense for Apple to delay the next major MacBook Pro until the design is perfect. The current MacBook Pro design has massive issues, especially with the keyboard design, and if the company ships more products with a similar keyboard design, it will only make things worse. It will be interesting to see if Apple continues to stick with its butterfly key design in the next MacBook Pro design, though.
